More June Memories

We enjoyed eating in our backyard a few more times while our kitchen was torn out, but this video of Brandon making Trent laugh was one of our favorite parts of dinner outside. :)
The boys, and I, had a lot of fun creating forts in the back yard.

This was the second summer that Heber did its UNPLUGGED program where children are encouraged to unplug the tv, computer games, video games etc. and get outside and enjoy being active.  Building a fort outside was one of the activities and going to the unplugged fair at the hospital was another activity.  The hospital was fun, but the best part was seeing the life flight helicopter.

Before we went to the UNPLUGGED fair we went out to dinner for Father's Day at Kneaders.  It was a beautiful morning!
Another UNPLUGGED activity was bird watching, which we of course enjoyed a lot.  These sand hill cranes live just five minutes away as you are coming into Heber from SLC.
And of course roasting marshmallows was one of the activities.  We love our fire pit and we sure loved our many trees and shady rock area for playing.

The lemonade stand was another activity that the kids were determined to do.  I think they have more fun organizing the activity than actually making money from it - which is as it should be. :)
We had a few more outings to the zoo.

Brandon is such a good big brother!
I have such darling boys!!
And Trent learned to roll over - actually he learned to roll over in May, but here is the video a month late.  I love this milestone!
So getting two dogs groomed regularly is really expensive!  So after getting the dogs groomed twice professionally I decided, if I can give my boys hair cuts, I can save money and give the dogs hair cuts.  The first three times I had given Pete and Annabelle hair cuts went very well, so well I even bought my own dog hair clippers.  Unfortunately for Annabelle, this time things didn't go so well.  I think the clippers need to be serviced because they were just doing a terrible job.  Well I was determined to get her hair cut, so even though it wasn't going well I kept going and it kept getting worse - Oh she looked awful!  Poor Annabelle, but my, she was a good sport about it - she was on the table for a good 6 hours and never once barked or acted upset.

Natalie and Chandlers Spartan Race

Natalie and Chandler both signed up to participate in the Spartan Race in Midway.  They had both been training for several months so they were very excited to do the race.  Chandlers race was naturally much shorter and at a different time than Natalie's race so she needed someone to take care of him while she did her much longer and much more challenging race.  I was happy to have him playing with my boys.  So we met at the race and had lots of fun watching Chandler - he did such a great job, but the best part was watching him help a younger boy who he had befriended moments before the beginning of the race, he could have finished much faster, but it was more important to him to see his new friend do well.  Chandler is such a great kids!

I am very impressed with Natalie for completing this super difficult race, and it looks like she even had fun doing it. :)

Johnson Family Boating Day

We spent a fun and relaxing Saturday at East Canyon Reservoir with my moms side of the family.  It was fun to socialize, enjoy lunch and play on the lake.
Grandpa Ron brought up his two kayaks and then he and Scott took both my boys out for a fun ride.

Before their ride Jared took Brandon fishing, which he had a lot of fun doing, while Grant enjoyed hanging out with me, chasing pot guts, visiting and snacking.  Part of the fun for the day was taking the back roads from Heber to East Canyon.  There were dirt roads for a good part of the way, but the scenery was beautiful.

The Zoo Train is OPEN!!!

We had been waiting anxiously for at least a year for the zoo to finish their remodel.  They were putting in a whole new safari area, places for the lions, and a huge exhibit for the giraffes, zebras, and other savanna animals.  The zoo trains was also being revamped and relocated to go all around the remodel.  This meant every time we went to the zoo there was no train to ride on, which was very disappointing to Grant.
So Grant was super happy when it was finally open and we were able to go for a ride. :)

I just love his happy faces in all these pictures.
The new exhibit is beautiful!

The train even goes under a bridge - Super Cool!
We are also so very happy to finally have lions back at our zoo.

This was also the first time the boys were able to play in the new splash pad, every time we had been previous to this it was too cold for the water to be running, so this was a fun treat for them.

We are so excited about the improvements the zoo is making - it is so fun to visit often!

Pool Day at the Cottonwood Spa

Oh, how I wish we had a pool, a good pool, in Heber.  But we don't.  Fortunately my mom invites us to go swimming at her neighborhood pool.  I grew up swimming in this pool and I love the memories I have there so it is always fun to take my boys there to swim.  It is such a great pool.  Before we went swimming Natalie took the boys for rides on my moms tricycle.  How cool is that bike. :)  The boys love it. :)

These boys are the cutest little fish, and they are beginning to love everything about swimming.

This was a fun summer day!
